My practice since graduating has been concerned primarily with the process of art making rather that the end result. I think the sketch book tells you a lot more about the artist than the shiny framed mounted "Finished piece". My first solo show comprised of digital prints of collated and layered images and text from the various notebooks that i carry around all the time.I guess i was trying to make the research the finished piece. But recently i have started to eliminate the need for a finished piece persay, and will exhibit the processes involved in exploring an idea. I am prone to distraction from an idea and i like to think that the diversions are also interesting. For instance i am currently working on an anatomical self portrait, but have spent a couple of weeks drawing pictures of people i admire eg: Stephen Fry,David Byrne, Thom Yorke and Hugh Laurie. Ultimately irrelevant but part research of myself, my interests and a reflection of the thing i am most drawn to which is drawing.
